Our Learning Approach
We take a science- & brain-based approach to literacy at KDA. Students will build their competencies in “The Big 5” (phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension) through a wide variety of texts, genres, and strategies.
We pride ourselves on our dedication to creating meaningful pathways for our students into STEM, curiosity, and change-making.
We are excited to offer both before and after school programs to expand enrichment and learning for all students TK-5th grade! Your child has a safe and engaging place to be 7:30AM until 6:00 PM.
KDA has a long history of community impact based on student interest and passion. Students lead the way through a project-based learning model. Learn more about the ways in which KDA students are making a difference here.
KDA has several opportunities for classes to get outside and into nature through our garden spaces, Redwood tree-lined campus, and field trips. Students learn the importance of environmental stewardship, health, and mental wellbeing through connection with the natural world.
With over 10 home languages represented at KDA, our community has a rich diversity that we view as a strength. Through an asset-based approach, students emerge as multilingual learners ready for the cultural richness of our society.
KDA is where we start exploring our little's dreams and building their minds. Everyone is so hands on from the teachers and office all the way to the after school program. KDA really cares about each child's experience.”
